Applications for next round of community grants now open

There is still plenty of time to apply for our next round of Community Grants.

Local community groups can apply for up to £5,000 if they meet the new criteria that was introduced last year. The deadline for applications is 20 January 2025.

We are encouraging applications from groups who can show how their projects would meet the United Nations Sustainable Goals and enhance the well-being of residents across the district. Applications should also give evidence of the benefits they would bring and that they are addressing challenges such as the cost-of-living crisis.

The applications will be considered by the Cabinet Grants Panel on 10 March 2025. This is the third set of grants to be given this financial year by the council who have already awarded £64,000 to local groups in the first two rounds.

The most recent awards in November were made to nine local community organisations including South Coast Skate Club CIC, Eastern Road Nature Reserve, Crawley Down Ladies Choir, Rites for Girls and Ensemble Raza.

Councillor Anne-Marie Cooke, Cabinet Member for Communities and Communications, said: “We are incredibly proud of our community grants scheme and would encourage local groups to consider our criteria and make an application if they are eligible. We know even relatively small amounts of money can make a difference to local projects so we encourage you to have a look at our website and make an application if you think a grant could help your project.”
