Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (RIPA)
The Council has powers to undertake covert surveillance activities in certain circumstances for the detection or prevention of crime.
We will not do any activity defined in the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 without prior or emergency approval. This approval must come from a trained member of the Management Team.
Our RIPA Policy sets out how the Council will exercise these powers, and the duties and responsibilities of senior officers within the Council under the Act.
